WHY so ORDINARY? The swift sound of strong, pallid paws echoed throughout the derelict street. Shadows cast by the moon magnified Solstice's frame to unnerving sizes. The dark night allowed her optics to glow and her ears to swing at any sign of movement. She neared a run-down old house, 'The Forgotten Cottage' as they call it. She darted through the front door professionally, giving any animal the sense that she had been here many times before.
She prowled through a corridor and then through a doorway. A few cats were sprawled here and there and spared a glance at the unblemished white feline passing through. Solstice lowered her head after fixing her emerald eyes on the bumpy, disgruntled bed ahead of her. She jumped onto the bed and curled up, hoping; wishing that tonight would be out of the ordinary. She wanted a bit a of a change of routine.

Heaven's gate won't open up for me Envy Another day, another frown. Boredom was found in every part of the calico cat's body, there was simply nothing to do. White paws treaded softly upon the ground, claws clicking against the hard wooden floors of the cottage. The darkness of the night had forced the envious tom to return to the inside of the cottage, well actually it hadn't. The cold nipping at his nose, and the wind freezing him to the bone. That was what made the calico Maine Coon return to the place of his nights. What a shame, a sinful cat such as himself forced to wander around the deserted hallways of the building. Bright green eyes constantly glanced around, hoping to find something that struck his interest. Tonight he was in luck.
The shape of the white she-cat caused Envy to hault in mid-step, green gaze following her movements. Had she been here before? Most likely, but Envy was the type of cat who wouldn't notice another unless: 1. they looked better then him, and he was jeolous, or 2. he was bored and curious. Tonight it happened his mind fell upon the second option, as it seemed this cat was the only awake. Well the only cat who looked mildly interesting, unlike the furrballs sleeping away their youth. How he longed to be that careless, but it would never happen. Instead he was forced to live upon his envy of them.. But enough of Envy's self-pity, it's rather boring.
Shaking his black and orange head, the tom made his way towards the other awake cat. Mixed colored tail lashed faintly as he stopped in front of the bed. Without another movement, he leapt. Body gently landed upon the bed with a soft 'plop'. Silently he sat himself down on the bed, one paw raised. In the blink of an eye the paw was pushed onto Solstice's body, with the sole purpose of keeping the she-cat awake. After all Envy was too bored to miss the chance to do something, and keeping another awake in the process? Well that was just an added bonus. If he had to suffer not being able to sleep, why should anyone else be able to sleep? Exactly, they should suffer with him.
What an amazingly nice cat he had grown to be. Sinful Cat On these broken wings I'm falling

A w a k e n e d to my Senses
Solstice was roughly pawed awake by someone. She lazily opened her left eye to see who had interrupted her nap. A tom's head was looking down at her, paw aloft, ready to tap her again if she fell asleep once more. She stood up and stretched to awaken her body. Then she looked the cat up and down. "Who're you? I'm Solstice..." her voice trailed off. She sat down again, awaiting his response by licking herself with her rough and pink tongue. Solstice obviously hadn't cleaned herself for a long while, for many clumps of bleached fur were ending up on the mattress.

Heaven's gate won't open up for me Envy A smirk came across his face at the fact his brilliant plan was working. No scratch that, his 'plain' plan was working. Much better, sounds less likely to be successful. Thus making it sound so much better when it did end up being successful. So unlike him to try to make himself look better. But more unlikely things have occured before, and so what if for a brief second the envious tom got a little self-confidence? Surely no one, after all the self-confidence was within his mind. And no cat could read that, or if they magically could. Well they couldn't figure out his thoughts, even he had trouble at times.
The words that came forth, caused his head to shake to clear his thoughts. Noticing his paw was still in the air, he quickly placed it down on the bed. With that action his two paws the distance between them was equal. Ears flicked lightly, hoping to be able to hear the cat's words more clearly. Solstice, that was such an odd name. And that was coming from a cat who named himself, and after a cardinal sin no less. Still he was a champ at judging cats, even just their names. What a simple thought.
'Envy.' He replied, tail swishing lightly. No emotion was held in his voice, yet the sudden tilting of his head implied curioisity was present. 'Why are you here?' Rudeness, so unlikely to be used, correct? Nope, rudeness was a part of life. And Envy really could hardly care what others thought of him, all he cared was how he thought of others. What could be more important then his thoughts? Sinful Cat On these broken wings I'm falling

BOTTLED UP
OOC: Ehhh, sorry, no muse >.<
Solstice frowned slightly at Envy's question. "Why are you here? I've never seen you before." She wasn't sure whether to trust this cat or not. She had alot of experience with cats, and knew you couldn't trust them all. The other felines were still snoozing and softly snoring. How Solstice wished she was still asleep, with nothing bothering her... she suddenly felt a pang of anger. Why did this cat have to be so rude? A retort suddenly burst out of her mouth. "Anyway, I don't know why you care. Did you just wake me up for that??" she spat. She flicked her tail in annoyance. She was never quite known to be rude, but sometimes, you just can't contain yourself. If you keep it all bottled up inside of you, it has to come out sometime. Now this was the time she had to let it all out and go with the flow. It was just unlucky that Envy was at the receiving end.
AND OUT IT COMES.

Heaven's gate won't open up for me Envy ooc// Tis ok, I liked it.
A light shrug was formed at the question, the curiosity in his eyes slowly dying out. To think he thought talking with this cat would cure his boredome, but he was just as bored as before. Expect now he was angering a cat... Wait, that could be a bit amusing. A light smirk almost crept upon his face, but he held it back. No, he mustn't show any signs of his 'plot'. Otherwise it would ruin everything, and he couldn't keep annoying her. And then he would cease to be amused and be forced to wander around in search of something to do. Jealous of the cats who were able to sleep.
'Because.' He replied, answering the first question. Of course it wasn't that much of an answer, so after a moment of silence he continued. 'Perhaps you were never in the right place at the right time.' The last part was sort of snappy, well not really. It just had an edge to it, because that was just the way Envy was. Seeking to bug others so he could find out who they really were, and to find a trait they had that he did not. Calmness, wisdom, you name it, he wants it.
The other question caused his ears to fly back, and a growl to escape him. How dare she spit at him? Especially when he was in a somewhat good mood for the first time in, well whenever he annoyed that one cat. Lashing his tail lightly, a glare was soon born upon his face. 'My own amusement,' he said, giving a decentish reply to the first part, 'and maybe or maybe not.' With that, the tom leaned back faintly to make himself appear taller. 'Of course there could be the chance I wished to get better acquaintant with you.'
A lie, that was all it was. Yet the tone of his voice called out 'flattery', and only that. Covering the lie with a sugar coating, that only he could detect. The only 'real' talent he truly owned. Sinful Cat On these broken wings I'm falling

RETORTS
Solstice was not a happy chappy. Some of the other cats had even raised their heads to listen into this outrage. "Of course there could be the chance I wished to get better acquaintant with you." Envy said. Solstice was used to this kind of fool-playing. "Well, I'm not going to believe that. I don't know what you're up to, but it smells fishy." She put extra emphasis on the word 'fishy' for that finishing touch. It definitely wasn't the best retort, but her mind had wandered away into the night. She swung her ears at the tiniest sound and arched her back, fluffing her white fur up.
Solstice glared at Envy and sat on her haunches, pondering what this tom could be up to. "Or perhaps you are so thick you can't even get out a good answer!" she hissed, swishing her tail. The cool breeze was ruffling the curtains on the windows, so Solstice caught a tiny glimpse at the raven night. The moon and the stars glimmered like highly-polished diamonds, sitting on a jewelers shelf. They hung like orbs in the delicate air.
can only go so far.

Heaven's gate won't open up for me Envy Green eyes widened lightly in faint surprise, and if he wasn't sitting, a small step would have been taken backwards. Outrage was something he was use to, oh yes he simply lived off of it. It was the fact she seemed to be figuring out his plan that startled him. Then again it was a complicated plan, basically he was just trying to amuse himself. And if he just thought about it for a moment he could see that his boredom wasn't as strong as it had been. But of course he wasn't willing to look at success, not yet anyway.
Allowing faint amusement to enter his eyes at her retort. Fishy, eh? Not the best insult, and to add to that she couldn't figure out what he was doing. True he didn't really know what he was doing either, but it seemed he was doing a good job. 'Does it now?' He calmly asked, lifting a white paw and giving it a light wash. Oh this was turning into fun, now it was a test to see how long it would last. A couple minutes, a couple hours, till morning? Only one way to find out, keep testing luck.
The hiss caused very little emotion to settle upon his face, and a small shrug came forth. As his gaze shifted around for a moment before falling back on Solstice, a sudden thought came into his mind; her eye color was better then his. The envious feeling came on strong, but as it did a sudden thought came into his mind. He could use this to his advantage. 'Well I can't say I'm not trying.' The words slipped out so easily, like butter. And eyes sparked for a moment, before he added on. 'A bit off topic, but did you know you have lovely eyes?'
Flattery will get you no where, but what if you didn't want flattery to get you anywhere? Then was it really worthles? Oh well, Envy would find out. Soon, hopefully. Sinful Cat On these broken wings I'm falling

NOT TO MENTION annoying...
Solstice stared into Envy's hard, green eyes. Who knew what lay in their depths? She shifted her position a bit. A moment after Envy had placed his flattery in the air, she had a fair idea of what he was up to. She ignored it. "Well said, Envy. 'Well I can't say I'm not trying.' Come off it. You can do better than that." she said sarcastically. Her eyes glimmered for a moment. "I think I may go back to sleep now." she mewed, to tempt him. She lay her head back down and half-shut her eyes, so they looked like they were closed but she could see through the crescent slits. She wondered if this would get her anywhere, but she tried anyway.

Heaven's gate won't open up for me Envy ooc// Sorry for the wait, yesterday I had so much homework I barely had time to sleep.
Body shifted lightly, trying to find a slightly more comfortable position. He failed, and thus gave up half-way through. Yet the way he had hidden his goal made it possible for him to lose no dignity, and that was quite an amazing task for such a cat as himself. Green gaze shifted around the room as Solstice began to stare at them. It was sort of weird, the whole staring. His mind was slowly becoming blank. And Really, it was his job to complete this plan. How dare she try to disturb his thoughts with staring,
The words caused his ears to twitch lightly, and a faint pout to come across his face. For a moment he looked actually innocent, and then the moment passed, and the same battle-scarred tom was back again. 'Is that what you believe?' Tail tip flickered as he said that, green eyes filling with mock surprise. It seemed everytime this cat said something, his boredom grew less and less extreme. Oh what fun, his plan was being fulfilled. Though it really wasn't that hard for the plan to be completed...
Sleep? And ruin his fun? Why would she dare to do that? Frowning lightly, the pout was almost completely recreated. 'But you don't need to sleep,' he said, 'not when you can join me on a midnight stroll.' A midnight stroll? What a crazy idea, for a crazy cat... Alright so that made it not completely outrageous. But why, why would Envy come up with such an idea? Well whatever the reason, the bottom line he had indeed thought it up. Incredible as it may sound.
